The Northern Michigan Ironmen Band of Brothers met Saturday, April 30 at the Man Cave in Frederic to study faith perspectives from Oswald Chamber's book, "My Utmost for His Highest". Following are several questions-insights discussed in our group: - Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do; He reveals to you Who He is.
- When Jesus asks us what we want Him to do for us in regard to the incredible thing with which we are faced, remember that He does not work in common-sense ways, but in supernatural ways. If it is an impossibility, it is the thing we have to ask
- Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One Who is leading. The life of faith is not a life of mounting up with wings, but a life of walking and not fainting.
- Faith is not a pathetic sentiment, but robust vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love. Faith is the heroic effort of your life, you fling yourself in reckless confidence on God.
Oh yeah, as the following photos indicate, there was plenty of good food and fellowship during our gathering.
If you're looking to connect with other men to talk about things that matter, check us out at www.BandofBrothers.org and link in to the Northern Michigan Ironmen platoon.

Mount Hope Church will once again be hosting the re-enactment of the Living Lord's Supper on Palm Sunday. This very moving drama begins with powerful music introducing the entry of Jesus where he walks through the crowds of Jerusalem and where the people exuberantly lay palm branches at his feet. Then the disciples gather for a meal with Jesus as the actors portray what it was like the night Jesus partook in the last meal with his close friends. The audience will be invited to partake in Communion with Jesus and his disciples during this event.
[The photo above is a freeze frame of last year's performance that is nearly identical to the DaVinci painting of the Lord's Supper in the upper right hand corner.]
The finale is very special with a new twist to this year's performance (you will have to come see to find out what it is). As the actors quote the Scriptures, this performance moves even the toughest hearts. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the Easter season in a very special way.
Come on out to Mount Hope Church in Gaylord for two special performances being held on Sunday, April 17th at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Everyone is invited. There is no charge for admission, but the regular church offering will be taken during the two performances.
A third and final performance is scheduled for Good Friday, April 22nd at the Evangelical Free Church at 6:30 p.m. |

"There is a fine line between knowing when opposition is God trying to show you another way or when it is just a test of courage." Often as Christians we face struggles in our life that cause us to cry out "Why Lord"? And it's not uncommon to first blame the problem on something or someone else. But according to 1 Peter 4:12-19 suffering as a Christian can be a good thing because it draws us closer to Christ. In fact, if we're insulted because of the name of Christ we are blessed. However, as verse 15 points out, those that break the law or "meddle" in someone else's affairs should not expect the blessing. But if we are leading a righteous life and walking in faith we should respond to the trials and temptations of this life with 'pure joy' (James 1:2).
I realize this directive is easier said than done in most situations, but we can take comfort in knowing that the disciples failed to see the joy in Jesus departure from this earth. Yet his parting words to them still hold true for us today. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Continue to walk in the way and the truth...no matter the cost!
